Before their remains were discovered, Lyric Woods, 14, and Devin Clark, 18, had both been reported missing by their families.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department has now charged the 17-year-old with their murders, but has yet to identify the teen.

Woods was reported missing by her stepfather on Saturday morning after they found an empty bed at their home in Efland.

The back door of the property was also found open, and the family of the ninth grade student at Cedar Ridge High School immediately contacted police.

“Gentle Giant” Clark, a football player at Eastern Allamance High School, was reported missing on Sunday after his family last saw him on Friday night.

Sheriff Charles Blackwood said: ‘With the hard work of my investigators, as well as the assistance of personnel from several other law enforcement agencies, we have identified a suspect in this case.

‘We will now work with local, state and federal officials to apprehend the suspect and produce him in the court system.

‘I want to thank the families of Devin Clarke and Lyric Woods for trusting us and the investigative process during this excruciatingly painful time. I hope apprehension

Clark’s mother, Tiffany Concepion, said: ‘My child has been brutally murdered. Who is strong enough to carry two dead bodies and throw them?

‘Where is the other person? Who is the other person who picked up either of these two? Who is the person or people who left them? We need answers.’

Officials confirmed that the bodies of two teenagers with gunshot wounds were discovered on Sunday by two men riding a four-wheeled ATV.

The teenagers are believed to have known each other, with both their families saying they were last seen in a car with an unidentified man.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department did not immediately respond to comment when contacted by DailyMail.com.

After witnesses claimed to have heard at least 10 shots, authorities are investigating their deaths.

Both the families are begging someone to come forward to help their children get ‘justice’.

Dean told the News & Observer that he had seen Woods hours before his death and had taken him for ice cream.

He said: ‘I am living a nightmare. It doesn’t make any sense. Minutes are too long.

‘We’re just breathing it out of breath. He trusted everyone.

Her stepfather Shane Canada said she took a shower around 11 a.m. Friday night, and is thought to have left through an open door shortly after.

A missing persons report said that Lyric had left all her belongings in her room except her iPad, so she didn’t think she had run away.

The officers managed to track his scent using a K-9 dog and his pillow through a trail where four-wheelers passed.

He was then spotted by a neighbor in the same area at around 3 a.m. on Saturday in a car that officials believed had given him a ride.

The North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the official cause of death and the identity of the teen.

Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood said: ‘While we have yet to confirm this, in the absence of any other missing persons matching the description of the persons located, the sad but logical conclusion is increasingly clear.’

A report was filed with the Mebane Police Department on Saturday for Clark, who lives with his father.

Paying tribute to the star athlete, his mother described him as an “athletic man, a good man with a good heart”.

Hundreds attended a balloon release in memory of Clarke, with his brother saying ‘We will not stop until we find justice for the one who killed my brother.’

His family was outraged that law enforcement had not issued an Amber Alert when he was first reported missing.

Concepcion also claims that she had to identify her son by his clothes, and was not allowed to see his body.

She thinks the sheriff’s office should have been more aggressive and sent an Amber Alert when the friends went missing the first time around.

But the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said amber alerts are not issued for people over the age of 18.

Sheriff Blackwood said in a statement: ‘The process is vital and important to lead us to the person or persons responsible for this horrific crime.

‘I am asking for your patience as we, along with other investigative agencies, do the work necessary to get justice for the victims and their families.’

The Allamance County Sheriff’s Office and the Mabeen Police Department are handling Clark’s investigation.
